USCIS PCQS Case Study

The objective of the Person-Centric Query Service (PCQS) is to provide USCIS status verifiers with the ability to submit a single query for all transactions involving an immigrant across a number of connected systems.Managing the person instead of the forms maintained in disparate systemsgives USCISthe means to adjudicate cases expeditiously.

Challenge

The agency sought to provide a single, integrated, composite view of case data to adjudicators. This was important in meeting the USCIS’s goal of improved productivity reducing the overall time and cost to process immigration paperwork. The PCQS interfaces with a number of the existing IT systems. The underlying integrated IT systems use a variety of different technologies including legacy mainframe systems.

Solution

Acentle’s support included a fully integrated approach that ensured that every aspect of the system, including people, processes, and technology, are fully aligned for obtaining agencies strategic business goals. Acentle supported the integration of PCQS leveraging SOA and ESB platform for authorization, storage and retrieval services. Our framework was flexible enough to support the future integration of the other disparate applications facili tating “Plug-n-Play” enablement. Our technical deign was based on industry best practices with a combination of rapid prototyping and end-to-end software development expertise. Our responsibilities included analyzing, de­signing, coding, configuring, building, testing, im­plementing, and enhancing the user experience of PCQS. We leveraged the best-of-breed technologies, capable of providing the best quality and cost-effective solution in achieving the overall goals of the agency.
